Brenda Ueland’s fantastic book never ceases to inspire me. The other day I was reading her evaluation of Van Gogh and she takes us through his writings and musings on the power of art, and the divinity within us all. The importance of a painter to show the rest of humanity how to see nature. He describes a beautiful scene of nature and comments on the reflective aspect within us all, a divinity as within, so without. It got me to thinking, let's do a Van Gogh Meditation:
What’s the most beautiful scene in nature that comes to your mind?
Close your eyes. What do you see?
I used to ask my husband that question a lot, when I was really into my third-eye visualization practice and I was coming out of the closet about it. "What do you see when you close your eyes?"
"Black." "No, it's not black. Look again." "Look, it seems black. It's n

othing. There's nothing." 'Try again."
"Really, I don't have that superpower or whatever you call it."
Perhaps there are several favorite scenes that spring to mind, if not the "eye."
Scenes you’ve treasured and valued over the years. Scenes that in a private, quiet time, revisit you. Or do the spring back to you. Or do you return to them?
